Barbara Duzan constructs an elementary domestic scene through ceramic form and material accumulation. A earthenware nest provides the structural foundation, its woven vessel quality suggesting both fragility and deliberate craft. Within this container rest spherical elements—patinated orbs whose weathered surfaces register time and oxidation. The formal simplicity of the composition—hollow form cradling geometric solids—establishes a tension between protection and containment. The mixed-media approach allows material difference to become conceptually operative: the nest's porous clay body contrasts with the densely worked patina spheres, creating visual dialogue between handmade roughness and accumulated surface. The work exists in the register of essential archetypes while remaining attentive to the particular qualities of its materials and their visible histories.
