Peter Juvonen — Oil and Watercolor

Peter Juvonen is represented by JG Art Gallery on Bainbridge Island. He works in oil on canvas and watercolor on paper.

The oils are his primary medium — large-scale and small, with a range that moves between landscape reference and something more abstracted. The Pacific Northwest is legible in the work without being the subject of illustration. Forest light, still water, the kind of color that accumulates in a landscape at dusk — these are present as atmospheric condition rather than depicted scene.

The watercolors are more immediate in feel, closer to observation than to composition. Both mediums are well represented at the gallery.
