A Feather In My Cap
A girl in a straw hat with a small blue bird perched on the brim, eyes lowered, a white cloth held at her chest against turquoise. The bird is the joke the title makes and she paints it perfectly straight. Gienger-Stanfield works from live models and the downturned gaze recurs across her catalogue — she is after inwardness rather than engagement.
