Wasp nest, 64 × 30 inches. Mann uses the architecture of a wasp nest as the primary material — the paper-pulp structure built by the colony itself, with its intrinsic grid of cells and the particular grey-brown palette of chewed wood. The nest is mounted and oriented as a vertical field, its 64-inch height giving it the scale of a painting while insisting on the specific logic of its nonhuman construction. $3,800.
