Upwelling
Mixed media on salvaged cedar — a horizontal rectangular block, black-dyed. An organic oval carved into the face holds a deep mineral-blue resin field against the charred surround. The contrast between sealed surface and open hollow creates tension between containment and emergence. McConnell uses soy-based Ecopoxy resin, preserving both color depth and ecological integrity across his material practice.
